One, is the threat and prevalence of antibiotic resistant bacteria, and the other is the shortage of public health care workers in developing countries. In addition to these gigantic obstacles the global public health care system faces political and financial hurdles. As a University of Pittsburgh student, I have found the Student Assembly to be an incredible body spearheading projects and a forum for ideas and concernsregarding public health issues. I encourage students to attend a student assembly event to become familiar with their mission, activities and projects. Her comments really hit home for me, especially her comments on the barriers to achieving health equity in the developing world.
