Charlotte, North Carolina: A good place to take your time

Yep, I know. The headline for this post teased some fun tips for your time at the APHA Midyear Meeting in Charlotte in June. But first, a little announcement.......

Time is running out folks! Register for the APHA Midyear Meeting before May 24 to take advantage of reduced fees! Go here to register and save money!

Okay, now that that's out of the way (and sorry for screaming in your ear), it's time for some brief sightseeing. Charlotte is North Carolina's largest metropolitan area, which means there's plenty to do after a day of public health-packed sessions and serious conversations. First, let's walk the talk. Charlotte is the seat of Mecklenburg County, which is home to more than 200 parks and recreational facilities. So, if you're looking for some exercise or just a relaxing moment with nature, click here to find a park that you'll be staying near.

Food! Charlotte's got plenty of it and something for everyone. And a quick search of restaurants finds a variety of ways to explore North Carolina's local eats and support local growers. Here's a good place to learn about Charlotte's farm-to-fork fare. (This blogger is ready for some serious southern comfort! Grits, anyone?)

Did you know that Charlotte is home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame? The U.S. National Whitewater Center (home to the world's largest recirculation river)? Or a sprawling botanical garden located on more than 300 acres of lush Southern beauty? Well, it's all there (and here if you want more info.)

Finally, there's plenty of nightlife in Charlotte. There even the Dog Bar, a venue specially designed for man's (women's) best friend located in the city's North Davidson neighborhood. Find a listing of other evening spots here.

And check out the video at the top of this post for more info. See y'all soon!

Wish I'd known they had a dog bar. I would've drove and brought my best friend, Kennedy instead of flying and leaving him behind :-(
